We focus on the key features and benefits clients enjoy with traditional system integration and Big 5 consulting firms, while taking advantage of Heartland’s strategic strengths. We see three main types of resource integration and our delivery model has been built to deliver on each of these key areas.
During these scenarios, the client typically has a good understanding of what they need and are looking for in a knowledgeable partner to be involved, but not take over. Our partnership is expanded as we qualify the opportunity, partnering with the client by outlining reasonable timelines, setting rate expectations, discussing skill set requirements and defining efficient processes.
Client / Heartland Contract
In this scenario, the client wants to utilize their internal talent to engage in project based work while supplementing them with niche SMEs or backfilling their day to day roles. They have a team that has solid experience and doesn’t need a system integrator to take over the project, however, they need an experienced partner to deliver SME talent and provide counsel throughout the duration of the project. We can prepare a Heartland Human Capital Assessment, which enables us to proactively suggest top talent so the client can ramp resources up or down quickly based on where they are in the project lifecycle and resource plan. Clients select this model when they are looking to build a high performing team and deliver a successful project while minimizing costs compared to engaging a system integrator. Our ideal clients have a strong internal team and highly value knowledge transfer to their staff. Having one go-to partner for these resource needs enables efficient delivery and collaboration from our partnership.
Client / System Integrator / Heartland Contract
In this scenario, the scope of the project is too large to handle internally and the client will have to rely on a niche system integrator or Big 5 consulting firm to deliver the project. The client will likely utilize on-site and off-shore talent and will have partners from the large consulting firm involved in the strategy, delivery, and execution of the project. Heartland supplements both the client and system integrator during the entire project lifecycle by providing resources directly to the client. This can be a program manager to sit between the client and system integrator or very niche SMEs in the more complex areas of the project. These are resources typically not on the bench with the system integrator, but the talent needed on a project. We have no desire to take ownership of the project and the system integrator appreciates the support to ensure the right talent is on-board. Our objective in this scenario is to be our client’s go-to supplementary option to ensure the project stays on time, on budget and on track for a successful go-live with top talent.
Client / Heartland Contract / Heartland Permanent
In this scenario, the client looks to us to help build the project resource plan with a long-term vision. The project needs to be delivered and a support team is necessary to be in place after the go-live. We prepare a Heartland Human Capital Assessment that determines the current team’s strengths and weaknesses for the project execution with post go-live support in mind. We help outline what skill sets could be hired as full time employees and what should be supplemented with consulting talent. At that point, our resource plan is adapted to fit the timeline to coordinate contract and full time resources to be on-board and in-sync with each other. Using this approach, knowledge transfer to a client’s internal team is optimized by on-boarding resources at the beginning of the project rather than scrambling around at go-live. Project costs are also minimized by utilizing internal talent during the project, thus enabling a successful transition into production and reducing the risk to extend the consulting project team. Clients select this model when they are looking to build a perfect team and deliver a successful project while minimizing costs compared to engaging a system integrator. Having one go-to partner for these resource needs enables efficient delivery and collaboration from our partnership.
